Set Up Your Ads Group

How to Access Ad Group Settings

You can access the ad group settings when you’re done with the campaign settings.

When you’re still in the campaign settings tab, all you have to do is click “Save and continue” and it’ll take you to the ad group settings.

The first thing that you can set up is the ad group type.

Standard – this type is recommended when you’re just starting out; this gives you the ability to use your own values, get the cleanest data possible, and understand how to optimize.

Dynamic – you can select this type later on when you want to experiment

Ad group name: Identify the kind of ad group you will be doing and name it accordingly.

Keywords: If you don’t have a list of keywords, type in your domain on the section which says “Enter a URL to scan for keywords” and click “Get keyword suggestions”.

The keywords will then be displayed:

Daily budget: Set up your manual cost per click (CPC) and this will be your default bid for all the keywords within a particular ad group. In the end, you’re going to bid manually on a keyword level. Set the default starting bid to $3. It’s always better to spend too little than too much because what you’re gonna want to collect is data.

Daily estimates: As you add your keywords, Google is gonna provide you with daily estimates which you can view on the right-hand side. Important: These estimates are generally not accurate. And you might also see some suggestions in which Google is gonna advise you to increase your budget to get more clicks.

💡 An effective way to mine keywords is by using a mergewords tool. You’ll find a bunch of these tools online but here’s an example: https://www.toptal.com/marketing/mergewords 💡

Once you’re done adding the ad groups, click “Save and continue”.
