See code for: You have 2 options here – (1) HTML and (2) AMP. You’re only going to be working on HTML so select it from the drop-down list.
Global site tag: When someone visits your website and you have the global site tag installed then you are going to be creating a cookie on them. That's going to stick on them and follow them around not only on your website but also outside of it. And because these cookies stuck on them, that allows you to do things such as remarketing towards them. You need this global site tag for things such as remarketing and to make the event snippet work as well. Before you install this, you have three options:
The global site tag isn’t installed on all your HTML pages. Select this option if this is your first time.
- Copy the code and go to your site’s WP dashboard.
- Go to “Appearance” and click “Theme editor”.
- Look for the Header.php and open it up.
- Paste the code after the “<head>” tag. https://i.imgur.com/ohzrbUr.png
- Click “Update file”.
The global site tag is already installed on all pages but comes from another Google product (such as Google Analytics) or from another Google Ads account. If this is true and you select this option, it’s gonna provide you with a code which you will paste at the very bottom of the previous script.
The global site tag on all pages was installed already when you created another conversion action in this Google account (account ID).
Event snippet: When you put this event snippet on your Thank You page that is going to work like a trigger when a conversion happen.
Tag assistant (by google) – install this to see that the global site tag is actually working; it also allows you to scan the current page and see if any google tags are installed.
After installing click on the extension and allow it to track everything. Then, click “Enable” and reload the site.
You should see some results when you click on it again.
